Oh happy day! A visit to the zoo on December 26 was discount day and a time for an interaction with a lovely bird.
The zoo is offering a Christmas special $100 off every entry fee. In addition, they have taken out relics of past animals outside for display. It could be called macabre, but on show are the skull and skin of big cats like Leo, the Hope Zoo lion. They also have a crocodile skin and eggs of an ostrich and also a crocodile.

For an additional $100 you can stroke am Artinga Erythrognes parakeet and have it sit on your shoulder. Visitors enjoyed that and were happy to have their photos taken to preserve the memory of the moment. That was lovely.
There are some new residents at Hope Zoo. In a savannah-like enclosure six donkeys share a space with a new female ostrich and a juvenile ostrich. It was lovely seeing them settled in.
